"We have had our driveway block paved (2008) by PJR contractors and we write in complete recommendation for the work and service recieved.

PRIOR RECOMMENDATION- A large number of houses in our local village, including people we see on a regular basis, have had work carried out by PJR, all work inspected was of a high standard, all work area left clean and tidy, workmen pleasant.

PRICE- For us, it was all price dependant to our budget if we had the work carried out as we were planning to do it ourself. The price we paid was the best by far and we had 8 independant quotes, including friends of family. It did not work out much more than doing it ourselves.

WORKMANSHIP- We agreed a price and the next morning bright and early work started. Day 1 excavation completed and base set. The workteam work a long day. All workmen very friendly, polite and respectful of property and surrounding property. Day 2 base layers rolled and compacted, and very quickly after that sand and blocks laid. Again ALL staff extremely pleasant and polite and work was completed. All debris cleared afterwards. Company as grateful to us as we were to them for work completed. The team take real pride in their work and finish.

We cannot fault any aspect of this company nor its work and are happy to verify this to potential clients, you can see for yourself if you pass through the village the quality and quantity of work! PJR Contractors put a leaflet through our door about block paving our driveway. We asked them for an estimate, which we thought was really competitive, and decided to go ahead with the work. The contractors turned up mid-day on Tuesday and by Friday tea-time they had removed the old driveway, dug out a sufficient depth to make a good solid foundation.  They refilled with hard core, membrane and sand, then they block paved and finished off to an excellent standard. They were all really friendly and helpful and were only too pleased to answer any questions. 

We now have this fantastic driveway and would thoroughly recommend this Company without any hesitation whatsoever.

What turned out to be a spontaneous purchase worked out very well indeed. PJR Contractors started out by doing one driveway in the village, and we were impressed by the speed and friendliness of the workforce. Out of interest, we asked for a quote from Patrick. This was done very quickly and he came up with a price within a couple of minutes. What was very nice is that all those little jobs that were on your list could be mentioned and were donoe within the overall price. We were under no pressure to accept or reject this, and it was entirely at our own discretion whether to proceed.

What did help was talking to our neighbours to see how the work had gone for them. By now there were a number of people in the village who had done their driveways, paths and patios. All of them were entirely complimentary about the job done. So we decided to go ahead.

They arrived as scheduled and started work. Get used to them starting at circa 7 in the morning and working through until about 7 at night. To have a great job, be prepared to have a big cistern of coffee for them and some biscuits! But the job was done to a great standard, with good advice for the pattern and colour of brickwork that would be needed. It was well worth while taking their advice, as they knew what would work best, having laid 100's of driveways. The inclusion of patterns in the patio or driveway was a source of great pride to them as well to us.

In terms of quality of construction, the works was of a very high standard with loads of hardcore, membrane and sand going in. The end result was excellent, and makes the house look really good. The workforce was very keen to do a good job and make sure that we were happy with the end result, the friendliness of the staff and the professionalism of the staff. All in all, a very good experience.

PJR Contractors laid a block drive at the above address (excluded for data protection purposes) in April 2007. I am entirely satisfied with the work and make the following comments.

1) The initial verbal quote was quickly followed by a formal written quotation and specification. There were no hidden charges.

2) The work was started promptly on the date promised and the site kept as clear as possible.

3) Each stage of the job was well explained by Richard as the job progressed.

4) One optional extra, a step, was discussed and clearly priced seperately, although in the event was not chosen.

5) The team used all the correct equipment, such as comporessor, pneumatic drill and "whacker plate", it was not done in an amateur or bodged fashion.

6) After surface preparation the actual block laying was done to a high standard, with part blocks and odd angles accurately cut.

7) The site was left in a clean and tidy condition.
